Apple MacBook Air

Lately I’ve been thinking about Mac computers, Apple really does seem to have some great computers and other products (iPod, iPhone, etc). Anyway, are Macs (Macbook Pros, iMacs, Macbook Airs, etc) worth the price? They are a bit expensive, I’m sure no one would deny that…but are they worth it? Are most programs/software/etc compatible with the Mac OS as they would normally be on a PC?

Thanks for any answers…I’m just trying to get some info before I really consider it.
